Eco clothing tip of the week: know your fabrics

We’d like to introduce you to a new friend of ours, Bemberg cotton. It's not only sustainable, being both naturally biodegradable and from a renewable, natural source, it combines two of our favourite loves; comfort and style.

Bemberg’s breathable nature, soft-as-silk feel and ability to absorb moisture means it’s supremely comfortable. And most importantly, it looks great too, with a luxurious drape that cuts a lean, flowing silhouette. We’ve used it in our new Raffles harem trousers (pictured above with our Beverly Hills wool jersey top) and we’re loving the way it looks like silk but joy of joys, it’s practical too, being just that little bit more tough wearing than silk. So with the right care, it'll last longer, which means less clothing waste, more wear, and you’re making your own small contribution to helping save the planet. What’s not to love?

The 'one-size fits most' top and dress

L'Hotel top                    Long chain earrings            Grand dress

One of the most inspiring things about working with Tluxe is the diversity of our customers. Whether you’re 60 or 20 you all have one thing in common, an inherent sense of your own style. With this in mind, each season we work on creating a dress and top, which look fantastic no matter what your size or age.

“A core element to Tluxe is our focus on fluid, lightweight fabrics, which we use to create a capsule range of flexible, one-size fits most pieces,” says our creative director, Becs. “This season it’s about our new colour-blocked L'Hotel top, which works well for day or night with a slim pencil skirt. And our go-to for instant style is the Grand dress. Style it up with the latest flatform shoes or your favourite pair of heels, add a slimline belt and a few of our fab new accessories. I’m loving the long chain earrings in up-cycled silver.

“Anyone can follow fashion, “ says Becs, “but the essence of Tluxe is about providing the basics to let you express your own sense of individual style.”

The insider... fuel for the week ahead

Delta Swamp Rock + Chocolate of the week = a happy Tluxe team, and fuel for the week ahead

Ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes of a design studio? While you’re browsing our new autumn collection for 2012, right now most of the team are already plugging away on production for next year’s spring/summer collection. And our creative director Becs is working on design ideas for autumn/winter 2013.

To help get us through the next slightly hectic few weeks we’re mostly listening to Delta Swamp Rock (and loving Leon Russell’s Out in the Woods), and mostly eating… chocolate. While we love the organic goodness of Loving Earth’s raw chocolate with superfoods like goji berries and acai, our guilty pleasure this week is the special edition Picnic Cookie Crunch bar. “In another life,” says Becs, “I would’ve been a sweet-taster.”

      Inspire me... autumn brights

There’s nothing like a zing of colour to brighten up a dull autumn day and with the international round of catwalk shows coming to an end in Paris last week, it seems many of the world’s top designers agree bold brights such as tangerine are not just for summer. Next autumn/winter vibrant shades of orange will be big news.

Always thinking ahead of the curve our design team here at Tluxe have included highlights of tangerine in our latest autumn/winter collection, now on sale. If you fancy being a little fashion-forward why not try out some zesty flame tones right now with our new silk California top, and fresh online today, our long sleeved jersey knit and super slinky long johns both in super-soft merino wool.

If you’re not into shout-out-loud colour as seen at Lanvin (pictured left, above), Calvin Klein (pictured right, above), and BCBG Max Azria (pictured centre) then we suggest turning down the volume just a little by teaming your new Tluxe top with a pair of slouchy charcoal trousers or a navy jacket. Go ahead, and brighten your day.

      Image of the week...

Our inspiration for the Tluxe Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Perpetual Motion started with this image of a white owl. "We’ve called the collection Perpetual Motion because that’s how we’re feeling right now, in a constant state of movement," says our creative director, Rebecca Powell.

"Looking at the big picture it’s about being always switched on, and finding a wardrobe that fits with our busy lifestyles.  On a more down-to-earth level Perpetual Motion reflects the fluidity of the clothes, and the luxe fabrics, such as silk, which make up the collection. The image of the owl represents a number of things close to our hearts, from the beauty of nature, which is reflected in the collection through our use of natural materials, to the white owl's symbolism as a Goddess in ancient Celtic folklore."
