Tluxe La Baule top spring/summer 2012

Today at Tluxe it's all about stripes. Pictured above are just a few of the reasons why we’re loving the classic Breton stripe, which this spring we’re offering in classic navy and white and for a splash of 2012 now, we’ve freshened up the look with ocean-inspired emerald green. Spring preview!

Today we saw some daffodils. And some magnolias. In the sun. Then the clouds descended and reminded us that it’s not quite spring. Yet. But we’re close. Close enough to get excited and give you a preview of our new spring collection By the Ocean, which is hitting the site in a little over a week’s time.

For spring/summer 2012 we’ve been inspired by the many colours of the sea from deep and moody navy to jade and Bondi blue. We’re also excited to introduce a digital palm print story, based on the lush semi-tropical tones and textures of our local Sydney beaches (pictured above on our Arraial d’Ajuda trousers and Cayo Largo dress). Botanical prints are not only a theme close to our hearts but are a great way to update your summer wardrobe, being one of the more fashion-forward trends to come off the catwalks this season.

Continuing the green theme we’ve created a new spin on a classic Breton stripe with our St Tropez maxi dress (pictured above) in emerald. We're also rather proud of our new super luxe silk T-shirts. Be the first to take your pick from chic and sexy black, navy, or bright and perky flamingo by signing up to our news alerts here.

      Block to the future

Monochrome colour block left to right: Pringle S/S 2013, Tluxe A/W 2012, Prada S/S 2013

We know you’re a forward-thinking lot, so we’d like to give you the heads-up on a key look that will see you well into next summer and beyond. Yes, we’ve talked about colour blocking before – wearing big blocks of complementary colours – and it’s a trend that keeps on keeping on.

One glance at the current pre-summer 2013 catwalk collections and you can see the likes of Pringle and Prada (pictured above) have opted for a chic and simple take on the trend in black and white. But why wait for summer when you can be ahead of the curve and buy now?

The Tluxe Empire top in classic monochrome will not only bring your style bang up to date, it’ll look fantastic with your tuxedo-inspired blazer, and those wide-leg trousers we know you’re already considering investing in, if you haven’t already. Oh, and did we say it’s also 60% off, along with the rest of our winter collection? What are you waiting for?

      The perfect day

      A bit of fog

      A bit of wind

And a whole lot of disco

This week we’re loving Sydney’s biennale. A great excuse to jump on a ferry, feel the wind in your hair and culturally saturate yourself for a few hours as you wander through the industrial wastelands of Cockatoo Island. Our top tips? Fujiko Nakaya's fog sculpture and Tiffany Singh’s bamboo wind chimes, both of which leave you with a pervading sense of calm.

And as the sun sets on our ferry ride home the soundtrack to end our most perfect day would have to be Ashford and Simpson’s Bourgie Bourgie, as played by Larry Levan at the infamous Paradise Garage. Not a bad way to start the week. Enjoy!

Why we use... merino wool and silk

Continuing our occasional guide to the environmentally conscious fabrics we use at Tluxe, this week we'd like to introduce you to Australian merino wool and silk.
Both silk and wool are the most luxurious of natual fibres. In combining them in key items such as our Amour asymmetric cardigan and La Mamounia wool jumper, which features some rather lovely silk sleeves (both pictured above), we've not only doubled the luxury factor but also your comfort.

Wool is warm, super soft and breathable, making it great for transeasonal dressing. And the lustre of silk adds just that little bit of wow, along with sharing many of the practical qualities of wool such as breathability, durability and a super soft feel. And they both drape extremely well, meaning you'll not only feel great, you'll look fantastic. Oh, and being natural fibres means both silk and wool are sustainable and therefore a better choice for the future of the planet. What's not to love?
